Would you ever invest in a business without charging interest? MDT’s been doing it for years! And the results have been amazing.
That’s because MDT has been involved in supporting international entrepreneurs via KIVA, a worldwide organization built to deliver interest-free microloans to people around the world looking for a little extra capital to help grow their local businesses.
For most, investment requests are quite modest. As little as a few hundred dollars can fully finance operations such as access to clean drinking water for rice growers in Prey Veng province, Cambodia, to stocking the shelves of a grain seller in Cercle de Kadiolo, Mali. In the last 3 years, MDT has invested in over 30 entrepreneurs around the world. What makes KIVA so unique is that it’s not a charity. Instead, KIVA responds to global poverty with an approach that teaches the value of working capital, responsible borrowing, individual motivation and self-reliance.
Every quarter, the MDT team comes together to select entrepreneurs to invest in among thousands of worthy endeavors. As always, we found some great stories and deserving businesses, and we’re excited to watch as this new set of entrepreneurs find success through their growing businesses.
If you’ve never heard of KIVA, it’s time to learn more. Get involved by visiting www.Kiva.org. It’s amazing how much good can stem from a little time and a small investment.
